True Par is designed to give golfers practical context while keeping control of personal information clear. This policy explains the information used to provide the app and your choices around it.
Controller and contact
Origin Golf Ltd (company number 17014781) owns and operates True Par and is its data controller. Its registered office is 82a James Carter Road, Bury St. Edmunds, England, IP28 7DE. Bermond Studio Ltd develops and maintains the app on Origin Golf Ltd's behalf. Privacy questions, rights requests and account-deletion help can be sent to support@yourtruepar.com. We may ask for information needed to verify that a request relates to your account.
What we collect
True Par may collect account details, handicap details, saved courses, rounds, events, scores and golf statistics, device sync data and app diagnostics. Coach applicants provide a contact phone number, location, specialisms and qualifications for verification and contact. Optional features may process a paper scorecard photo, private coaching messages and media, swing-review video, lesson details, coach feedback, AI Swing Lab videos and enabled push-notification preferences.
Sign-in and account emails
If you choose Apple or Google sign-in, we receive the account identifier, email address and any name the provider shares to create or find your True Par account. Apple may provide a private relay email address. We store an encrypted Apple authorisation token on our server so we can revoke access when you delete your account. Apple account notifications help us respond when permission is withdrawn or relay email is disabled. Resend delivers account confirmation and password-reset emails on our behalf and processes the recipient address, email content and delivery information. Choosing social sign-in does not give True Par access to your email inbox or contacts.
How we use data
We use data to operate the scorecard, calculate True Par, show GPS distances and maps, save and synchronise rounds, provide Plus, event, coaching and watch features, process chosen AI features, provide support, maintain safety and improve reliability.
Lawful bases
We process account, scoring, purchase and requested feature data because it is necessary to provide the service you ask for. We use consent for optional device permissions and features where consent is required. We may use legitimate interests to secure, troubleshoot and improve the service, prevent fraud and moderate reports, after considering the effect on users. We process transaction or safety records where required by law or needed to establish, exercise or defend legal claims.
Location and optional features
Location is used only while you use golf GPS features to show distances, position on a hole map and marked shots. Mapbox provides the hole maps. Its SDK may send map-usage information and, when you enable golf GPS, device coordinates and accuracy to Mapbox along with session and network identifiers. Mapbox may use this information to provide and improve its maps; it describes anonymizing location telemetry after receipt. You can opt out of optional Mapbox telemetry through the map attribution control. Map requests needed to show a map may still occur. A paper scorecard image is sent through our backend to OpenAI for one-time extraction; the original photo is not retained. For Plus AI round analysis, scoring and tracking facts are sent securely through our backend to OpenAI; free-text notes, precise shot coordinates and email address are not included.
Coaching
A coaching connection stores the sharing choices, private messages, media, swing-review materials, lesson details and feedback needed to provide the service. Media is held in private storage and opened with short-lived links after access is checked. You can report a message or block the other person from the conversation.
Public challenges and leaderboards
Joining a challenge keeps your progress private. If you separately join its leaderboard, other signed-in golfers can see your chosen golf nickname, aggregate score, rank and number of qualifying rounds. Your account identifier, scorecards and course locations are not shown. You can hide your entry or leave at any time. Reports and hidden-golfer preferences are stored privately so we can review conduct and apply your choices. Challenge scores are self-reported.
Retention
Website launch signups store your email, phone platform and consent date for launch news. We remove them on request and remove records older than 12 months when a new launch signup is processed. We use a daily hash of your connection address to limit signup abuse; raw addresses are not stored in the signup database. Account and cloud golf data is normally retained while the account remains active. User-owned cloud records and private media are removed through account deletion. Temporary scorecard images are not retained after extraction, and signed media links expire automatically. Limited transaction, fraud, safety, dispute and legal records may be retained only for as long as reasonably needed for those purposes or required by law. Service-provider backups may take a limited period to cycle out after deletion.
Your choices and rights
You may use guest mode, decline location permission, disable notifications, edit profile details, report or block a coaching connection, report or hide a leaderboard golfer, hide your public leaderboard entry, delete an account in the app, request deletion through this website or contact support. Depending on UK data-protection law, you may ask for access, correction, deletion, restriction, portability or an objection to processing, and may withdraw consent without affecting earlier lawful processing. You may complain to the UK Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk.
Service providers
True Par may use Supabase for authentication, storage and synchronisation; Apple and Google for optional sign-in; Resend for account emails; Mapbox and a protected golf-data service for maps and course data; RevenueCat, Apple and Google for purchases; OpenAI for chosen AI features; Expo for app services and enabled notifications; and platform services used for optional watch features. These providers process data for the functions described here. Mapbox may also use map data to improve its products as described above.
International transfers and security
Some providers may process information outside the United Kingdom. Where required, we rely on an adequacy decision, approved contractual safeguards or another lawful transfer mechanism. We use access controls, private storage, signed links and encrypted network connections, but no online service can promise absolute security.
Children
True Par is not directed to children under 13 and they should not create an account. A parent or guardian who believes a child has provided personal information should contact support@yourtruepar.com so it can be reviewed and removed where appropriate.
Policy updates
We may update this policy when the product, providers or legal requirements change. The effective date shown on this page identifies the current version; material changes will be highlighted through an appropriate product or website notice.
